Aston Martin is a British car manufacturer, based in Silverstone. The team has been involved in Formula One racing under different names. They initially participated in 1959 but did not achieve any points and they continued to perform poorly in the following season so they decided to withdraw from F1 in 1960. 

In 2006, the owner of Aston Martin, David Richards, and his tech company Prodrive were given the opportunity to participate in the 2008 F1 World Championship. However, Richards stated that Aston Martin was not yet ready for an F1 team and believed it would be better to partner with an existing team. In 2009, Richards expressed his intention to return to Formula One in 2010 using the Aston Martin name, but this plan did not happen. From 2016 to 2020, Aston Martin was a sponsor for Red Bull Racing and became the team's title sponsor from 2018 to 2020. In January 2020, Racing Point owner Lawrence Stroll invested in Aston Martin and acquired a 16.7% stake in the company. This led to the rebranding of Racing Point F1 Team as Aston Martin F1 Team for the 2021 season. The team changed their racing color from pink to Aston Martin's iconic British racing green. In January 2021, Cognizant was announced as the team's new title sponsor. The Aston Martin AMR21 was unveiled in March 2021, marking Aston Martin's return to Formula One after 61 years.

The team  will use Mercedes power units until 2026. After that, they will switch to Honda power units in a partnership with the Japanese manufacturer. The team is owned by Lawrence Stroll and will have Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll as their race drivers starting in 2024.
